Sounds like you have a bad float "heavy causing the float level to be too high". You also could have a bad needle and seat but you'll get that with a new rebuild kit. The check ball someone mentioned is below the accelerator pump and just keeps the gas from draining back into the gas chamber below the float. No check ball means no accelerator pump squirt.
