Are you using a bolt in yoke TH400 or slip yoke? As for cutting the half shaft, you'll just have to measure, measure, measure. I put a TREMEC TKO500 in a '92 xcab a few years back and had to change the yoke, cut the halfshaft and move the trans crossmember.

I do wonder if you're going using BBC to build a hotrod, why not start with something a little lighter than an xcab truck, and then have to remove all the wiring & fuel injection. What are you doing for a fuel pump/ignition, etc? Are you going to use a floor mounted shifter?
