Re: Which one is better? SBC 406 or 434?

Not trying to hikack the thread, but Ripdog are you running slicks and hooking up. I'm curious to know how the Detroit locker is holding up to that much torque. I'm changing my truck around some and will be throwing 660hp/580tq at a 9" with Detroit locker with a transbrake launch (was stalling the converter dead at the torque peak, but we'll see where it flashes with the new combination)
I've got a stupid amount of rubber on the back and could make the thing dead-hook with 500HP, but opted to take a little hit out of the 4-link and be easier on the old TH350, mild steel shaft etc. It's a Dyneer "No-Spin" Detroit locker w/ 33 spline Dutchman axles. I'm just unsure of what the locker is going to tolerate. If you've been launching a with the torque listed in your siggy,, I should be OK. Still going to drive this thing on the street is the only reason I'm not dumping the locker for a spool.

When you're dead, it's only a problem for the people around you, because you don't know you're dead.
.....It's kinda the same when your STUPID.
