Let it breath. Free-flowing intake and exhaust will help a little with gas milage, but that's the obvious stuff. It sounds like you're set with what engine and trans you're dropping in so the only other way to get the rpm's down, as TR suggested, is to put some highway gears in the rear end. Then shed as much weight as possible and if it's a 4X4 think about getting the least aggressive tires that will still take you where you want to go. And one more thing, keep your foot out of it.
