I agree with the others here too on picking the right pull out long block is the most cost effective way to go but rebuilding the one you have is an option and still keep a decent budget.

My example, now I did not keep every reciept for parts I bought (labor of love right?) my longblock minus the harness/computer/electricals/brackets/exhaust I am talking long block here is about a $1K and that's reusing the hard parts and valvetrain so just machine work and all wear parts new. All said and done, I have about $3K in this conversion and that's doing pretty much everything myself. Add aftermarket this/that and costs can skyrocket out of control so the more knowledge you ingest the better.

In the end, I do have a rebuilt 0 mile LQ4 that has many years of service in it and that's what I wanted.
