Looks like a good project, especially with your son involved. I built my 454 to 525hp with a 4spd and it is a bit on the finicky side, lights up the 35" swampers in 3rd gear, kind of would like it better as a 4spd auto, but is pretty original except the 454, so just enjoy the 4spd.
