the12volt.com is an awesome website. all kinds of nifty things there. When I built my box I used 3/4" mdf because its just that much more solid, but since it looks like you are tight on space and the shallow mount subs won't hit crazy hard the 1/2" would definitely be enough. Design looks great though, can't wait to see it built
