It sounds to me like you need to invest some time in to making your current system right. Start by adding flow control on your dump valves so you can adjust your system properly. Most guys dislike the speed and lack of control of 1/2" lines and end up with regulators of some sort.

After that, see what you can do to make the truck handle with the air suspension. If you change to better tires, lighter wheels, sway bars, and improved shocks, you will get better handling. If you still feel a static drop is what you want after those mods, you won't have to change anything to go static.

If it were me I would consider 18's or 20's over 17's. They look better (IMO) and the cost of tires and available sizes are much better.
