You need to do a lens. If you don't you will be blinding traffic and in some states, its not even legal unless you do a lens. Not to mention, you'll just be scattering the beam pattern everywhere and you won't be seeing near the benefit from the HID's that you would with a lens. Those who do 'em without lenses just don't know what they're doing and shouldn't have done anything until they did.

You can get some from the junkyard, out of some smashed headlights off of some newer vehicle that didn't damage the lens. Often time the lens will be spared in a crash because they are kinda thick and dense. For these old trucks, the one I've seen most commonly used is are out of acura's. The lens is big and works well in these truck's headlights. You're gonna have to drill out the back and mount the lens in there. I'm sure someone else can go into more detail. Disregard all this if you already know but from reading your posts I wasn't sure if you were already going to do this or not.
