The easiest way to tell the gear ratio is to pull the cover and count the teeth on both the ring gear and the pinion gear. Then divide the number on the ring gear by the number on the pinion and this is your ratio. (e.g. 41 teeth on ring gear, 11 teeth on pinion=3.73 gear ratio.) As far as the posi goes jack up both sides and spin one wheel, if they both move you've got a locker.
