It looks like you must be using flux core wire with your welder. Once you upgrade to true mig gas you will wonder why you ever tried to weld sheet metal with flux core. It is so much easier!!
I have the same exact rust that you repaired on the bottom driverside windshield opening. That is going to be a fun one when I get back on my rusty cab.
