Bummer to hear about the cam - If you stick another flat tappet in it I'd suggest getting a zinc additive from Summit or wherever and adding it to the oil at every change.
Modern oil is short on zinc content which causes these kinds of issues with flat tappet stuff.
Edit - another thing to do is avoid idling for extended periods. Low engine speeds reduce the rate of rotation of the lifters.
