My '36 Plymouth was put in a garage in '59 and sat there until I pulled it out in '04. I was able to use a foot pump to air up three of the tires. The fourth wouldn't hold air so I swapped it with the spare. The spare was doing fine until my father decided to use his 12V compressor to add air and blew the tube. That car has 55k miles and much of the original rubber and fabric is intact. I replaced the front windshield and actually re-used the original rubber seal instead of the aftermarket replacement I'd purchased. As Orrie said, it's the sunlight and UV that do the most damage.
