Bear in mind Chevy and GMC trucks have been around a looonnng time. The V8 came out in '55. Even a Corvette had a six for '53 and '54.

I don't recall the engine designation ever being on the fender. The badge had the bowtie and 10, 20, 30, etc. for Chevrolet. Not sure what GMC did.

My '67 C20 came with a 292 six.

I bought a new truck every year starting with '64 and at that time a truck was only a truck. Nothing was automatically included and I remember paying $1625 to include a radio and heater. Somewhere in that time frame they added seat belts and that jacked up the cost $50. When the body style changed in '67 that truck cost me $1700. I never bought a wide bed or a long bed.
