A zerk fitting is for a grease gun chuck to lube the joint.
Some times you can get lucky and hit the stud end of the tie-rod with a large hammer (BFH). Do this with the nut on the threads, just loose.
Other wise you will need a "pickle fork" or tie-rod separator tool to remove the tie-rod stud from the tapper.
