Need help guys, I have a tilt steering column in my 66 with a 65 wiring harness, I have to hook up the column to the wiring harness but cant seem to find a wiring diagram for the tilt column. I have been told that most if not all the tilts from 67 to 84 are gm columns and the color codes are the same. I figured out that the yellow wire is the left turn signal and the green is the right. I need to know what the other color wires do.

tilt column wiring
1) black = ?
2) purple = ?
3) light blue= ?
4) white = ?
5) dark blue = ?
6) gray = ?
7) yellow = left turn
8) green = right turn
9) brown = ?

65 wiring harness
1) black = ?
2) purple = ?
3) light blue= ?
4) white = ?
5) dark blue = ?
6) gray = ?
7) yellow = left turn
8) green = right turn

I have tried hooking them all up (matching color) but that didn't work the battier died and when you hit the brake pedal the front hood indicator lites would come on.
