Yeah, except it's better to make sure they are together correctly
A clip on air-connector is nice, too - just stand completely out of the way.
Basic rule is that the two pieces should be loose after they are put together. If one piece won't rattle around or rotate relatively freely then it is not all the way on. I never had one blow up on me.
It's somewhat like mounting a tubeless tire made out of steel.
