Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!

Thanks Don.

Got home tonight and my new gearbox mount had arrived from Langeys Rodshop.

The one that was on the truck had perished and fallen apart, so needed replacing.

I was up at 05.00 to get out the house by 06.00 today, had an appointment over in the Barnet area for 08.00 and 09.00 followed by some more visits around that side of London and a pop in to head office to pick up some materials.

Fortunately I was able to pop into Real Steel between appointments to pick up some parts for my engine, and some bits for mate Martin.

The guys there are just amazingly helpful and patient.

After work I fitted the gearbox mount and got some measurements for the flanges I need mate Darrwn to laser cut in Stainless Steel and mild steel for me that will be welded to thenY pieces and exhaust pipe when I build it.

Cereal box engineering at its best.

10mm request was based on what is on the QTP Y pieces, but Darren suggested 5mm will do the job equally well.

Once these are made up they get Tig welded to the stainless Y pieces and the mild steel units to the actual exhaust pipes that needs bending and fitting to the Flowmasters.
