The easiest way to empty the tank is to let your wife or teenage kid borrow the truck. I guarantee it will be empty when you get it back!
I recommend just biting the bullet and dropping the tank. That way you can not only clean it better but you can have a chance to look inside and make sure there is nothing that may bite you in the butt later.
