Yes - the plants had variations in build processes, and differing "personalities", that could result in the use or dis-use of additional codes.

I launched product in the St Louis plant right before it shut down but I suspect those guys are all gone. The youngest person there at the time had 33 years seniority (and that was 25 or 30 years ago).
