Erik, from the research I did, the NV4500 shifter wouldn't line up with the original hole -- I believe it would be further towards the rear.

I've got an SM465, and I was contemplating this swap. After I drove it for a while, though, I realized that GM did a pretty good job with selecting the rear gears on this, and it actually does pretty nice on the highway. I've got 3.08s in the rear, and I figured it would take more miles than I ever plan to drive to pay back this switch.
