I had one in my 64 impala that looked just like what you started with. I also went with the finned valve covers.

I'm curious why you went with the straight axle. My 51 GMC always steered and rode perty good. I've considered keeping the straight axle type front end.

I only kept it because my buddy had purchased it with the disc brake kit, and the power steering as well. He sold his truck before he installed in and I bought the whole lot for $600. It was just to cheap to pass up. I hope it rides ok, I may have to adjust some things with time. Possible Fabricate my own pitman arm to get it more level.
