Andy, I was able to find some speaker grille cloth at the local JoAnn Fabrics store. Here's a link:

If you do as BR3W suggests, you can then use the fabric to cover the entire package shelf and the speakers will be invisible.

BR3W also mentioned the prefab plastic enclosures. Here are some that would be pretty quick and easy:
