Even with the more friendly rear end ratio from the NPR I'd still like to have this truck be a little happier at highway speeds. The truck currently has a Spicer 5652-B 5-speed transmission (1st: 7.08, 2nd: 4.37, 3rd: 2.50, 4th: 1.45, 5th: 1.00) with the 8-bolt passenger side PTO for the hydraulic pump for the bed and winch.
Does anyone have any recommendations for an overdrive transmission that would bolt up to the big block 427 in the truck and still have the same passenger side PTO provision that would work? I know that there are OD Spicer transmissions in the 5700 and 5800 series but I'm uncertain if any of them would make for a good replacement or if there's something else I should be looking at.
