I mounted all my rigs under the dash, center. The screws for the heater control unit were perfect for the transceiver U-bracket. Sometimes slightly longer bolts were necessary [1/4-20 iirc].
In my '67 Suburban, I had a Johnson Messenger 4175 in that position. It was wide enough to serve as a shelf for a police scanner, and on top of that had a flat space for one of those 'Mercury capsule' type coffee cups. I had a 2 hole Alpine cassette receiver, AM/FM in the normal dash position. External 2-way speaker in the ceiling above the rearview mirror.
What I meant was all that retro Panasonic gear would take up a lot of room in the cab.
