Here in Virginia, you can drive a truck with Air Brakes as long as the GVW is 26,000 or less, last I checked anyway. As some say you can and others say you can't. But I contacted the DMV directly, twice actually, although years ago.
But evidently even the Law is also unsure about it, lol. Some cops say you can, others say you can't.
If I had one, I was going the copy the info I got from DMV and carry it with me. But although I checked on a few trucks, I never bought one in question. As they are pretty rare. My old truck license ran out when CDL's were implemented back in the early 90's.
I could never understand the big deal about Air Brakes anyway. I started using them when I was 11 years old. I thought they were great. You want to stop, you press on the pedal, lol. I sold my last Air Brake truck back in 1990.
