That portion of the blazer should be the same as the trucks, with the exception of the torsion boxes that cover the bottom side and add support when the top is off.
I would brace that area is you decide to remove the torsion box to access the underside. If you are not going to, take this time to clean the rust inside the box and coat it with something like POR15 or some other rust proof coating. You could remove the back access panek of the torsion box too for access, but it will be tight working space and your bolts may be rusty/tough to remove.
