I would think the bead would hide any imperfections in the body panels joints.

The strips are about 3/16" - 1/4" thick about 8" long. I just added a few strips end to end to cover the contact surface (in the middle of the fender flange) of the fender. One you tighten the fender it squeezes out. I most cases it does not squeeze out past the fender but it if does just take a bondo spreader or rag and wipe it away. I don't have any close up's but I used it on my 48 that I sold last June.
