Those old Dodge pickups were hell for stout. Quite a while back our VFD had a ~1970 W300 (basically like the one in post #2 except the taller front and outside running boards). It had a utility bed with a slip-in water tank/pump.

We actually used it to bulldoze fallen logs out of the trail

It was the best thing for getting around off road or just driving down a county road, but the steering had gotten so back that it scared you to death on the highway. It also had the pump & hose reel on top of the tank (one unit) so that you had to prime it practically every time you started the pump.

It was a loaner from the state so finally they took it back and gave us a 2010 F-550 V-10 with a 500 gallon tank with the pump mounted on the back of the flatbed so it draws right off the bottom of the tank. Nice truck with AC and all but you sure don't go making your own road with it
