They were named after the company founder, Ransom E. Olds, using his initials. Yep, the guy who founded Olds in 1897.

Sold that and started REO or Reo. The company itself used both ways, so either way was right back then. It was REO first, REO Speedwagon. I know them as Reos as well. I say Reo and mostly heard that. I get to ride with my friend in his '58 to the antique truck shows
