Well... I don't think "riv-nuts" are the way to go on thin sheet metal like our roofs. When the wind is pushing on whatever is strapped to the rack you might want the force, at the bolt attachments, to be spread out more than just where the bolt is. You might consider either large washers on the underside or bolting through a piece of plate to spread the shear force to a larger areas...like this pic. I've had those riv-nuts pull out when attached to thin metal before when the bolt is pulled in a non-straight manner.
