Yeah, I had actually noticed that too when looking around the other day, but figured that they were installed/restored without attention to detail. But maybe there was some variation from the various factories, etc.
Here are some more pics... Note: every tailgate band DID come with woodgrain. So there are some unoriginal aspects of some of the trucks shown below.
