It could just be that the NSS slider isn't properly engaged with the tang on the shift tube. It could also be that the internal contacts are gummed up and just need to be cleaned. You can disassemble the switch by bending the metal tangs open on the backing plate. I had to clean the contacts on my current NSS. Personally, I'd rather have an original switch that has been cleaned up than a reproduction switch.
