It's definitely a head-scratcher. I checked all the bolts first, I checked for loose exhaust components, and laying underneath it when it's running, it's definitely coming from the torque converter area. I considered the possibility of a crackd flex plate. I would just be really surprised if a new SFI-rated flexpte cracked.

Either way, it looks like I'm going to need to separate the trans from the engine. I was hoping to avoid that, but at least I have a transmission jack to help me with a very heavy transfer case. I'll inspect the flex plate and replace the converter and let you all know what I find.
