I had the same idea about a machine shop. Back in 2020, I picked up a second overdrive transmission for a pretty good deal. I've already robbed the solenoid from it, so I guess I'll be taking it apart tomorrow in hopes that it has the parts I need. I've owned it for over two years and haven't even opened it up yet.
If the "parts" transmission still looks good inside, I might try the machine shop route so I can have two functioning overdrives
