Re: It’s in and ALIVE. 1965 SBC 283 lopey cam.

Nice 283 Jay ! Hey im going to be putting a set of rebuilt camel hump 461 heads on my 283 along with a cam, iron 327 intake and a 4 bl quadrajet to match and Im wandering how you like the 268H comp cam ? Im trying to keep the engine looking period correct . I been researching cams for this small bore engine and Im leaning towards the comp Xe256, lunati voodoo 10120700lk or the old Z28 cam 3863151 .
This engine has a fresh bottom end .030" over, I bought it used with low flowing 896 heads as my block was cracked. The block numbers matched my cracked block so its period correct 1966-67. I popped heads off had a quick look at cylinders and lapped valves and put new seals on and threw it back together but it feels underpowered everywhere pretty much lol . I should make some decent gains with cam, heads, intake and carb im hoping. I know these 461 double hump heads are larger 60-62cc from what ive read so hope my deck height is decent and i wont be down on compression too much. i'll do some measuring when i tear into it. The camel hump heads were on my original block so figured id utilize them. Anyways hoping to find a good cam spec for this build
Im running a camaro T5 and 3:73 gears
