Oh, yes, I did!
So I did this yesterday. The mirror in my econobox wouldn't stay up- the plastic piece that is the socket for the ball and clamps to the bracket on the windshield cracked. I went by the dealer hoping to buy just the socket, but no go- you have to buy the complete mirror assembly. And it isn't covered by the extended warranty. I went home, drilled it out and pulled it back together with baling wire, just like I told the service adviser I was going to do.
If you look carefully, you can see that the crack isn't completely closed.
