Cable is high quality copper made for marine use and was all I had on hand. I suspect that the copper strands are individually coated with anti-corrosion stuff that is very hard to remove and worse when heated. I do a fair about of soldering in building ML rifles so familiar with many types of materials and fluxes. Luckily was using a sleeve and crimp connection to that fancy terminal shown. I share your concerns about all the chinese AL core stuff out there. Remember the ban on AL house wire???
