As a member of the fire dept., I would think they could sponsor a pancake breakfast benefit for her. Seems fire dept.'s used to do things like that for local folk. Or is VFW's, American Legions, Boy Scouts ???
Maybe she isn't letting on about her financial situation to get help. Us old folk can be like that...
