The best were some repro hinges made by GM in the early 2000s for the 67-72 model years. I don't have P/Ns, and I don't know if they're still available, but that's what I went to. I bought them back then, and saved them. I put them on about 5 years ago, and I was amazed.
When I bought my '68 C/10 Stepside in 1973, after he showed me the engine under the hood, the PO took out a clean white T-shirt and lovingly pressed his elbow down to lower the rear hood on each side. For about 45 years that was how I figured it was done. Then a visiting mechanic buddy, after I told him about having the factory repop hinges, said, ''Break 'em out.'' And in less than a hour, my hood came out level in the back, and I didn't have to slam the hood down to close it. I can close it as easy as a door.
