Re: Project O.G. - My First Ever Build

Dealer bumpers definitely give these pickups some extra character. Folks in Iowa have never seen them so I get a lot of questions about mine. I thought about making a habit of collecting them, but that would require more space than I want to dedicate to it. Yes, yours looks like the same bumper as mine. In my memory they were almost all painted silver in a modest-looking finish like a spray can would deliver. Looked like the same stuff you saw on above-ground fuel tanks, pipe gates, etc. My body shop’s go-to silver is GM Switchblade Silver, so that’s what I got. And he went base/clear, which I would have opted against if he had asked first. It looks very nice, definitely nicer than new.

I haven’t been to Tomball in awhile but I understand there are a few more ppl there now than when I moved away from Aggieland (2007). I have a goal to drive this ‘68 back to College Station at some point and I will ping you when I do.
