The early model doors have the single lock on the riders side. When installing the weather strip that glues to the door, do you put the lock in first or what?

All I could think to do was put the lock in with the lock plate in place and then glue the weather strip to the door, but not put any glue on the lock plate, just in case I have to pull it for any reason.

Looking for some advice on this.
