They aren't great pics, but this is what was on my 63 when I bought it. I've since removed it to go with a chain style hoist from a 90s Nissan pickup. I had to change because the spare tire I chose was too wide for the original carrier.

The factory has a long bolt on each side. One bolt has a special nut that helps hold up the piece that goes under the tire.

If you do a search over in the parts section of the board, you will be able to see some better pictures of it.
