I know the leaf springs brackets/saddles are in different positions. You'll have to cut and move thm inboard a bit on the newer axle. They should be same width as 70 was th change year. Even if you had leftover with the slightly narrower rear, the new one will work. The new one probably also has the bigger/HD (wider shoe), meaning more breaking power. Other than the saddles everything else should be fine.
