That is the "standard" heater/defroster. The core is super expensive to replace. I'd think the market for one is very small as most guys who want the stock heater want the Deluxe fresh air heater.

You can actually buy a Vintage air heat/defrost compact heater unit for about half of what it would cost to put that one in good working order if the core is bad. As the others said the core is only good for 4 lbs so they don't last long with a newer engine an higher pressure radiator cap.
