I got the inner fenders loosely installed.

Then I remembered this problem with the lower fender mounts. I am thinking I will try and see if I can redo what I removed. If anyone has any advice, I’m all ears. It’s the same on both sides. I know the correct repair is to replace the pillars, but I am not ready for that project.

Before I disassembled the front end, it had these large concave washers installed by the PO, something like below.
