Got a nice serving of humble pie, especially when I eventually saw the crisp lines from one paint color to another. If you still have the sheets from the star cutouts, you could do it in reverse. Would be a significant effort, but you could put the outlines around the stars, paint the whole thing blue, and then come back and repaint the white over top of it.
