Ok,... here's the break-down of what you'll run into.
(this relates to just 1/2-ton conversions)
DRUM TO DISC CONVERSIONS
60-62 truck with:
63-70 crossmember
71-72 crossmember
73-87 crossmember
63-70 truck with:
63-70 crossmember
71-72 crossmember
73-87 crossmember
71-72 truck with:
71-72 crossmember
73-87 crossmember
60-72 trucks with "unknown" crossmember swap?
This is where it's hard to determine the correct parts needed.
Spindle Problems:
71-72 spindle on 60-62 trucks
73-87 spindle on 60-62 trucks
71-72 spindle on 63-70 trucks
73-87 spindle on 63-70 trucks
71-72 spindle on 71-72 trucks
73-87 spindle on 71-72 trucks
There are two styles of 73-87 spindles:
73-80 HD 1.25" wide rotors.
81-87 LD 1.00" wide rotors.
(also the 81-87 1/2-ton trucks could have the HD rotors)
All associated parts need to match the rotors.
(bearings, calipers, rotors,... all have to match the spindles)
All aftermarket 6-lug rotors ONLY work with the 1.25" wide HD spindles.
Aftermarket Spindles and Drop Spindles:
This is the best method of getting the correct spindle for the year of your truck.
Spindles are sold for the following years, that require no balljoint or tie rod change:

This is just a sample of all the different directions the questions can go.
