The benefit is additional Caster (current standards) w/o adding shims or shifting the wheel closer toward the firewall.

I should have looked back in his posts before I asked the question. He explains what he did in post #49 and continues to show suspension modifications up to like post #100. He did a lot more than just the caster mod. Those post are two years ago old though so I forgot that he had already set up all the suspension!
