Only way that could possibly happen is if the rubber seal on the 'needle' completely disintegrates and glues itself to the seat. At that point it's game over for that needle/seat anyway.
Like I mentioned above I've never used that clip and I've been rebuilding carbs since the early 70's. Carbs today are a
problematic due to the high volatility fuels we are saddled with. It is what it is..................
